Ling Finishes Swim Season with State Medals

Congratulations to Harry Ling (Collegiate, 2025) on his performances at the AVCTL League Championship and Kansas Boys Swim and Dive State Championship.

At the League Championship, Harry placed first in all four of his events: 200 and 500 freestyle, 200 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay.

At State, Harry brought home a 4^th place finish in the 500 freestyle, 7^th place in the 200 freestyle, and 2^nd place in the 400 freestyle relay. Harry was also the anchor that solidified a gold medal win for Collegiate’s 200 medley relay team.

Congratulations, Harry! What a way to end your senior high school swim season!

Rogers Takes First at DECA Central Regionals

We’re excited to share that Caleb Rogers (Derby High, 2025) competed in the Central Region DECA competition this past weekend in the Business Services Marketing (BSM) category, placing first on the Marking Exam and the BSM Event!

Caleb will participate at the State Career Development Conference (SCDC) March 2-4 at Kansas State University, where he will compete in Business Services Marketing. He and two fellow DECA members are also working on a Hospitality and Tourism Research event project they will take to SCDC.

Defore and Ling Head to State

We want to congratulate Elijah Defore, Northeast Magnet, and Harry Ling, Collegiate, both 2025, for their performances this weekend during the Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving Wichita Invitational.

Elijah qualified for the State Championship meet in the 50 freestyle, swam a personal best in the 100 freestyle, and won first place with his 200 freestyle relay team.

Harry finished first in the 500 and 200 freestyle and placed first with his 400 freestyle relay team.

In the upcoming weeks, Harry will compete In the AVCTL League Championship, Elijah will compete in the GWAL City League Championship, and both will race in the State Championship meet February 20^th-22^nd.

Defore Named DSI Finalist

2025

We’re excited to share that Elijah Defore, Northeast Magnet, 2025, has been selected as one of the top 12 finalists in Wichita State University’s annual Distinguished Scholarship Invitational (DSI)!

Of 551 students who competed, Elijah advanced to the final round, where three students will be awarded the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarship. To qualify, students had to demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and dedication to their communities.

The 12 finalists participated in final interviews on January 23^rd, and the Gore Scholars will be announced on January 31^st.
