We’re thrilled to share that Raif Morgan, Derby, 2021, has secured a Supply Chain Management Internship for the Summer of 2025 in Wichita, Kansas! For 2 months, Raif will be immersed in an experience that blends analytical challenges, strategic thinking, and professional development.

During the internship, Raif will work alongside supply chain leaders to develop, analyze, and maintain key metrics that drive supply chain strategy. He will also play a crucial role in risk analysis and assessment, helping the team create contingency plans in case of supply disruptions or delays in receiving essential parts. Ensuring accurate data will be another focus of his role, and he will be responsible for running reports and reconciling any discrepancies he finds within supply chain data systems.

Raif’s experience will allow him to refine his soft and hard skills. He’ll engage in inter-departmental communication, negotiation, and relationship-building with internal teams and external partners. Additionally, he’ll gain hands-on experience using ERP and data software to support supply chain operations. Raif will also work on a significant project that directly impacts the company’s supply chain development. At the end of the summer, he will present his findings to executive leaders.

Raif will also be able to participate in organized, social, recreational, and volunteer activities with a cohort of fellow interns.

While waiting for summer to roll around, Raif has shared, “I’m most excited about the ability to play a role in a supply chain much greater than myself, and being in a place where my decisions will have a direct impact on Spirit and their operations. I very much enjoy the prospect of being a “liaison” of sorts, a middleman that can help those on either side of the chain accomplish their goals.

I’m also excited to learn about using multiple kinds of software, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) software like SAP and business analytics software like PowerBI. I am unfamiliar with a lot of the software that’s out there, and I am looking forward to immersing myself in them and learning about all they have to offer.

I’m looking forward to potentially being in a position where I can participate in negotiations or work out deals and contracts. I have become interested in the nature of contracts and agreements and I am hoping I will get the opportunity to be in a negotiator’s role.

Lastly, I am excited about forming as many new connections as I can and absorbing as much knowledge as I can about the aerospace industry and its supply chain.”

We are incredibly proud of Raif and look forward to seeing all he accomplishes during this exciting next step in his professional journey!

Adeagbo Accepted to Public Health Master’s Program

2021

We are thrilled to announce that Tamilore Adeagbo, Eisenhower, 2021, has been accepted into the Master of Public Health program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, one of the top public health institutions in the world!

This program is organized around four core terms of graduate courses and a final research paper to demonstrate mastery of what has been learned in the coursework experience. Tami will be able to engage in cutting-edge research in critical areas such as psychiatric epidemiology, genetic epidemiology of mental and behavioral disorders, cognitive health and aging, mental health service systems, and more. The Bloomberg School’s Department of Mental Health is the only mental health department at a public health school in the U.S., making this a truly unique and impactful opportunity.

Tami shared, “Throughout my time at Hopkins as an undergrad, I have been very passionate about mental health, especially in adolescent populations. With my degrees in Public Health and Molecular and Cellular Biology, I have been able to gain a unique perspective on how social determinants impact health and mortality. The various extracurricular activities and the clinical research I have conducted have piqued my interest in this subject even more. My interest in mental health is very personal, and I hope to become an advocate by getting my master’s and then going to medical school afterward!

I am so grateful for everything the foundation has done for me: not only financially, but the constant encouragement and even assisting me in submitting one of my letters of recommendation!

I am so excited for this next chapter of my academic career!”

Congratulations, Tami, on this incredible achievement!

Tyson Fast-Tracks Academic Path

2021

Hayden Tyson, The Independent School, 2021, will accelerate the path to his degree in behavioral sciences with a minor in Psychology by taking additional classes this summer, allowing him to graduate by the end of the season.

Adding to this accomplishment, Hayden has been invited to apply to the University of Kansas graduate program as a doctorate student. This program is unique because it allows students to begin as PhD candidates, earning a master’s degree along the way, which typically reduces the overall time needed to complete the PhD.

Hayden plans to train as both a researcher and a clinician at the University of Kansas, preparing for a versatile career in the field. Obtaining a PhD includes the potential to work in education and serve as university faculty in the future.

Hayden states, “The O’Shaughnessy’s foundation has granted me the freedom to look past financial barriers that would inhibit me from seeking a degree past my bachelor’s while also providing me with the support required to take such a critical but daunting step of pursuing a postgraduate degree. The O’Shaughnessy family has been with me every step of the way, and their presence in my life has been an essential component of fostering my continued interest in education.”hh

Kanagy Commits to Graduate School

2021

We are thrilled to announce that Ben Kanagy, Trinity Academy, 2021, has recently accepted a top scholarship for graduate school at Wheaton College! Ben will commence his journey towards a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Exegesis this coming August, following his (double) graduation in May.

The program at Wheaton College is designed to be one of the most rigorous platforms for delving into the profound intricacies of biblical texts, encompassing their original languages and rich cultural and historical contexts. Starting this fall, Ben will be taking both Greek and Hebrew language classes.

Wheaton’s interdisciplinary approach ensures that Ben can explore various fields of study, including the psychology program. It is noteworthy that Wheaton College’s graduate program has a track record of sending students to top doctoral programs annually, opening up Ben’s future academic pursuits.

Beyond academia, Ben is excited about residing in Chicago and enjoying their jazz music.

Ben remarked, ” Both of my undergraduate degrees were pretty broad, so I’m excited to get to focus more narrowly on my interest in biblical texts, languages, and their cultural-historical contexts. A major reason I chose Wheaton was the faculty, who are world-class scholars and whose work I’ve read much of over the years. It’s a bit unreal that I’ll now get to work closely with them in my master’s program!”

Congratulations, Ben! We are excited to see what this next chapter holds for you!
