Nominations Being Accepted for Lifelong Learning Scholarships

09/05/2019

Wichita, KS—The Timothy P. O’Shaughnessy Foundation is pleased to announce inaugural scholarship opportunities to Wichita area High School seniors.

Through the generosity of the newly formed Timothy P. O’Shaughnessy Foundation, a minimum of two scholarships will be awarded in fall 2019 for the 2020-2021 school year.  The innovative Lifelong Learning Scholarships are designed to promote and encourage educational opportunities beyond the traditional college classroom.  Maximum award of each scholarship is $100,000 over a ten-year period.

Students must be nominated through their high school counselor and will be invited to apply. Scholarship recipients will be announced no later than Dec 31, 2019.

Priscilla O’Shaughnessy, Timothy’s mother says, “Our family is very excited to introduce these scholarships which champion the approach to learning and life that Timothy modeled. Learning doesn’t begin or end in the classroom, or at the end of the semester, or when you leave campus. Tim’s thirst for knowledge was boundless, as was his kindness, unselfishness and value of fellowship. The Timothy P O’Shaughnessy Foundation is honored to offer support to students who mirror that learning model, coupled with the leadership, moral force of character, and care for others, which were Tim’s hallmarks.”

The Timothy P. O’Shaughnessy Foundation is a Wichita-based 501(c)(3) operation foundation established in 2016 to recognize, encourage, and support lifelong learning for deserving students from the Wichita area.  The goal is to provide additional learning opportunities beyond the norm to motivated, driven graduating high school seniors.
