2025 Golf Tournament Important Information and Reimbursement Guidelines
NOTE: To simplify matters at all locations/events, and for the protection of the hosts, it’s agreed that all scholars will enjoy non-alcoholic drinks only.
Friday, October 10th – Evening Cocktail Party
Attire: Business Professional – Dress as if you were at a job interview.
- Men: Dress slacks or khakis; no jeans, shorts, sandals, or sneakers. A button-up dress shirt is recommended. Jacket optional; suit and tie not required.
- Women: Conservative, modest business wear; no bare shoulders, and no overly short skirts, dresses, or jumpers.
Name Tags: Must be worn at all times.
Cell Phones: Do not bring them to the event. Please keep them locked in your car.
Schedule:
- 6:30 – Meet in the parking lot at Central & Rock, just west of Chick-fil-A, in front of Salon Brands (along Central, across from Dillons). You will receive your nametag for the evening.
- 6:45 – 7:45 – Cocktail party at the O’Shaughnessy residence. We will carpool to minimize the number of vehicles. We will arrive and depart the O’Shaughnessy residence as a group.
During the Cocktail Party:
- Scholars will be in groups of 2 or 3 (mixture of males/females with at least one returning scholar from a past golf tournament).
- Your role is to circulate and meet as many of the guests as possible. Every guest has made a significant donation to the foundation; show respect and appreciation.
- Offer a firm handshake, speak your name clearly and loudly (the room will be noisy and crowded).
- Do not cluster with other scholars. Keep moving, avoid staying too long with one guest.
- Be sure to greet Gerry and Priscilla, and Timothy’s siblings (Kate, Lael, Clare, and Michael). They will be happy to introduce you to guests.
- Departure: When it’s time to leave, we will do so as a group, no individual goodbyes are necessary.
8:00 – Dinner at The Candle Club (6297 E. 13th, west end of the strip mall at 13th and Woodlawn. A private room is reserved.
- Wait for Claudette to get there, and she’ll usher you in. (We’ll be arriving right at the height of their busy dinner crowd, so she will show you a shortcut to our room so that we don’t have a parade walking through their night club, interrupting their evening.)

Saturday, October 11th – Golf Tournament & Evening Program
Morning/Afternoon Attire: No jeans. A polo shirt and a pull-over will be provided.
Location: Wichita Country Club, 8501 E 13th Street
If golf foursomes run late, be prepared to change for the evening in the locker room (have your evening clothes with you).
Schedule:
- 11:00 -Arrive at Wichita Country Club Golf Shop (west end of clubhouse). We’ll have carts to take you to the Halfway House, the location of our lunch.
- 11:45 – Scholar Luncheon
- MENU (served buffet style)
- Salad
- Variety of Pizzas
- Mixed Dessert Offerings
- Water, Team, Lemonade
- MENU (served buffet style)
- 12:45 – Golf tournament. Scholars will be stationed at tee-off holes to facilitate the BINGO game for players and guests. Instructions will be provided at lunch.
Dress for Golf Tournament:
- You will be given a golf tournament polo and your name tag. (Attire to be handed out Friday night.)
- No Jeans per location policy. Dark or khaki slacks are acceptable.
- Sneakers preferred; no heels.
After the Tournament:
- At approximately 4:15 PM (or after meeting the last golfers), return golf carts to the clubhouse.
- If time allows, you may go home to change, but you are welcome to shower or change in the fully equipped locker rooms at the Country Club.
- Be back by 6:15 PM with your name tag for individual and group photos before guests arrive.
Evening Attire: Business Professional – Name tags at all times.
- Men: Suits and Ties
- Women: Conservative, modest business wear.
Evening Schedule:
- 6:15 PM – Meet at area behind Golf Shop for photos
- 6:30 – Cocktail Party and Reception. The atmosphere will be more relaxed than on Friday night, with guests seated for dinner at 7:30 PM.
- Guests have requested more interaction with the scholars, so this year scholars will be strategically seated with guests (at least one other scholar at your table).
- Saturday Dinner:
- Served Family-Style, Tables of 6-8
- Wedge Salad
- Fried Chicken Breasts
- Prime Rib w/ Brandy Sauce on the side
- Scalloped Potatoes
- Fall Vegetable Medley (Zucchini, onions, peppers, etc.)
- Dinner Roll & Butter
- Ice Cream Sundae (tumbleweed sundae for guests, non-alcoholic version for scholars)
- Water, iced tea, lemonade
- Post-grad scholars will participate in hosting the evening program (details reviewed Friday night).
- After dinner and presentations, remain to visit with guests and family. Group photos will be taken; allow time for goodbyes and mingling.
- Before leaving, turn in your name tag to Jama and personally thank Gerry and Priscilla.
Travel Reimbursement Procedures
To qualify for reimbursement:
- You must be in Wichita at the meeting location by 6:30 PM Friday.
- You must attend all Saturday events.
- You may depart anytime Sunday or later.
Air Travel:
- Out-of-state scholars will be reimbursed for economy airfare. Purchase your ticket and send receipts no later than 9/20. (Extras such as seat assignments, luggage fees, meals are not included.)
- Reimbursement will be given at the event (not in advance).
- Book flights 60-30 days before the event.
Driving:
- If traveling more than 100 miles, reimbursement will be based on mileage from your town to Wichita.
- Notify if you plan to drive.
Partial Attendance:
- If you cannot attend ALL events, check with Claudette before making plans. Reimbursement for a single event is not guaranteed.
