Orief Heads to Cornell for Computer Science
Jana Orief (Northwest, 2025) is headed to Cornell University to study Computer Science!
Jana’s decision to become a Cornellian was shaped by her visit through a diversity STEM program, where she found a campus community that felt welcoming, driven, and deeply committed to making a difference. From world-class dining with inclusive options to strong cross-cultural support, Cornell felt like a place where she could truly be herself and thrive. Surrounded by ambitious, down-to-earth students and inspired by the culture of self-starters, Jana knew Cornell would be the perfect place to grow, take risks, and chase big dreams.
“Cornell saw me before I saw myself—through the Halal section in the dining halls, an academic space where the wildest dreams take flight, and a community that believed in me. Whenever I questioned my worth, Cornell affirmed it. As a Meinig Scholar, I’m ready to take the world by storm. Go Big Red!”
